Barcelona were reportedly unhappy with Ter Stegen’s reaction towards the end of last season. With the 32-year-old telling sporting director Anderson Deco and coach Hansi Flick he was ready to start in the Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan.

However, when Flick confirmed that Wojciech Szczesny would be in goal for the away game at Inter Milan. Ter Stegen did not respond and even threatened that he would not travel to Milan with his team-mates. This left the club unhappy with the German goalkeeper’s attitude. Especially Flick, as their relationship had been strained since the 60-year-old was in charge of the German national team and chose Manuel Neuer as the number one keeper.

Ter Stegen has reportedly been given the green light to move this summer. Although the German goalkeeper, who is contracted until 2028, is adamant he will remain at the club. But he is unlikely to play a single game unless Joan Garcia or Szczesny are unavailable.
